Food – Irish and Modern Australian

I wasn’t happy with the chili muscles, the sauce tasted like it was from a bottle and the muscles were over-cooked. I wouldn’t bother with this dish again. The Cajun pork chop was served with mashed potato, grilled tomato and a side salad consisting of lettuce, some red onion and grated carrot, which seemed to be the standard salad across the table. The dressing was quite nice. The pork was nice and cooked quite well, maybe slightly over done. Overall I enjoyed it and was happy with the price I paid. The seafood platter got a good review as did the salmon. The one dish that did not seem to be good value for money was the steak and prawn dish which at $32 consisted mostly of chips and mashed potato and a small, overcooked steak topped with three prawns.

The general consensus amongst my party was that the food was good but not great. It’s standard pub fare with generous portions at a reasonable price. I have heard good things about the Irish meals but am yet to try one.

It has a great atmosphere and is really family friendly, I was there one Saturday night for drinks and it was teaming with kids out to dinner with their parent’s. I enjoyed it but it’s not for everyone. On the Thursday night that I went for dinner, the only child there was my own so maybe choose a weeknight if you want to avoid the kids. The staff definitely deserve a mention at this place, whether you’re at the bottle shop, bar or restaurant the staff are really friendly and helpful.
